Achieve the Seductive Boudoir Makeup Look at Home

November 29, 2017

Make up is an incredibly versatile tool which can be used to create any look. If you have a Christmas party or special occasion coming up, you may want to choose something dramatic and seductive.  Boudoir photoshoots allow you to discover a side to yourself that you may not have known existed before and provide a great opportunity to boost your confidence, so it makes the perfect inspiration for a make up look for your next big occasion. Here is our guide to getting this look yourself at home.

Dramatic Eyes

The seductive boudoir look is centred on a dramatic smoky eye. A good rule of thumb when creating a dramatic boudoir-inspired smoky eye is to start with lighter eye shadow colours and gradually add darker shades, so use a neutral coloured base eye shadow to begin with and build layers of colour on top of that. Whatever colour palette you choose, apply the lightest shade just above the crease of your eye and use a medium shade across the socket line to create a sense of depth. Create a smoky effect by using a darker colour in the corner of your eye and blending towards the brow bone. Intensify this effect by using a pencil eyeliner across both the upper and lower lash lines and smudge towards the outer corner of the eye. Finish the look with a set of false eyelashes, and add touch of highlighter across the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye.

Create Flawless Skin With Highlighter and Concealer

In the studio, the lights can make your skin appear paler, so it is important to use a full coverage foundation across the whole face, and sometimes even the chest and shoulders too. Outside of the studio, the amount of foundation you apply is down to your personal preference. The impression of smooth, flawless skin can still be created with light foundation, highlighter and concealer. Using a concealer that is a few shades lighter than your natural skin tone will brighten up your skin and cover up blemishes effectively. Just a small amount of concealer under your eyes can make your eyes seem wider and reduce the appearance of dark circles. Use a highlighter to accentuate your features, and finish with powder to keep your make up in place all night.

Natural Lips

It is always best to accentuate one feature at a time. So if you are choosing a dramatic boudoir style smoky eye, keep your lips natural. This doesn’t mean forget about them though, so apply plenty of lip balm to keep them looking soft and moisturised, and then add your choice of a light lip gloss or a lipstick colour which is close to the natural pink of your lips.
